Rules for Literary Events


LITERARY EVENTS


Note: A team can participate in any ONE event out of the following TWO events.


SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

  • The team consists of 2 students.
  • Time allowed 3 hrs.
  • DFD's (Data Flow Diagrams) are allowed.
  • Flow chart, Documentation and Source Code are not allowed.
  • Any Programming Language can be used.
  • Any Backend Tool can be used.
  • Source Code should be original. If found copied then that team would be disqualified.
  • No external help is allowed.

Note: participants are required to tell in advance about the software to be used a week before the event so that necessary software can be installed in the Lab.



BUSINESS PLAN

  • Team consists of 2 participants.
  • Rs. 1cr will be given to students hypothetically, from which they have to design a Business Plan.
  • Time allowed for presentation is 30 mins(20 mins for presentation and 10 minutes for critical evaluation and questions.)
  • OHP or Multimedia Projector can be used for presentation.
  • The executive summary and the text of presentation should be provided to the concern faculty 24 hrs in advance.
  • Dress code for presentation is formal.


Note: A team can participate in ALL of the following events.


CASE PRESENTATION

  • Team consists of 3 participants.
  • The topics for the presentation will be from the field of management and IT.
  • Time allowed for presentation is 25 mins(20 mins for presentation and 05 minutes for critical evaluation and questions).
  • The source of data and information presented should be given during presentation.
  • OHP or multimedia projector can be used for presentation.
  • The executive summary and the text of presentation should be provided to the concern faculty 24 hrs in advance.
  • Dress code for presentation is formal.
  • Topics will be provided in advance.
  • Judgment will take into account following parameters.
    • Quality of material and write up.
    • Presentation material and skill.
    • Analysis and observation.
    • Handling of critical evaluation and questioning.

DUMB CHARADES
  • One team per class.
  • Each team consists of 2 participants.
  • A team will be given a time of 1 minute to guess.
  • Each team will be given a slip, which will consist of a name of personalities, movies, songs or books etc.
  • 1 person will act and other will make the guesses.
  • No lip movement or speaking is allowed.
  • Proper name should be guessed i.e. an incomplete name would not be considered.
  • Gestures can be used but cannot be broken into letters or alphabets.
  • In case of no guesses penalty of 30 seconds will be imposed.

PICTO
  • One team per class.
  • The team consists of 2 students. Time allowed 90 seconds.
  • One person will describe the object given to him through a slip and the other will try to draw that object on the board.
  • The participants will not be allowed to see each other during the game play.
  • Explanation will only be in terms of geometric figures viz. lines, squares, triangle, circle, hexagons etc.
  • The person who is guessing can make any number of guesses and the other can say 'YES' or 'NO' or 'OF-SORTS' only.
  • In case of no guesses a penalty of 30 seconds will be imposed.


DEBATE

            Parliamentary Debate
            Rules will be floated separately.


JAM (JUST A MINUTE)
  • One team per class.
  • On the spot a topic will be given to contestants in a group.
  • Each contestant has to speak continuously without any pause or repetition of a word for 60 seconds and he cannot repeat the idea more than two times and cannot steal ideas of others.
  • Every time the contestant starts afresh, he can repeat the topic except when starting in the last ten seconds.
  • Speaking continuously for 5 seconds will gain the participants a point.
  • When an error is pointed out the judges will decide if the objection is correct or not. If the objection is correct, the participant stands to get a point while on the other hand if it is invalid one point will be deducted.
  • The participants who will finish the topic will get one extra point.

TURN COAT
  • One participant per team.
  • Each participant will be given a topic through a slip. Four minutes will be given to each participant to think about the topic.
  • The participants will have to speak on the topic for four minutes.
  • For the first two minutes the participant will speak for the topic, and for the next two minutes against the topic.
  • A bell will be rung at two minutes, and then at four minutes.

QUIZ
  • Two Teams per class
  • Each team consists of 2 students.
  • Each team will have to appear in prelims which will be written.
  • The best 6 teams shall go through to the finals.
  • Final round shall be oral and encompass topics ranging from history to current affairs, management, science and technology to geography. Basically anything under the sun and beyond is within the realms of final round.

PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
  • One team per class.
  • The team consists of 2 participants.
  • Each team will be given one terminal.
  • Total number of sessions is two. Each session is of 15 minutes.
  • Total amount provided per team is Rs. 1 Crore only. (Rs. 1,00,00,000.00)· One can remain in cash if so desired by the team.
  • Total number of transactions in each session can't exceed 10.
  • No short selling allowed.
  • Any attempt to short sell will lead to a penalty of Rs. 1,00,000. (Rs. 1 lakh only) · Investment to be made only in the scrips provided, at the market price only.
  • Team with the maximum portfolio value at the end of the second session will be the winner. (for the unsold shares, closing prices of the final session will be considered.)
  • Misbehavior with other team members or with the host or any misuse of the terminal will lead to disqualification from the game.
